a wintery afternoon with bridgette guerzon mills
On one of those pleasant winter days, where the sun reflects off the snow, we found Bridgette's studio perfectly nested on a hill between a fork in the road. Amanda Rogers, an artist, arts organizer and friend joined me on this perfect afternoon in the studio of Bridgette Guerzon Mills. Bridgette's books and mixed media artwork incorporates a variety of materials including photography, paint, encaustic, plaster and natural found objects. Encaustic is a wax based paint (composed of beeswax, resin and pigment), which is kept in a paintable consistency on a heated palette. This natural material paired with the content of the artwork, gives the work an honest quality.
